In our last special article with everything about the NBB, the championship created by the National Basketball League, you learned a little about what this tournament is, how it came about, who the teams are and who the main players are.

Now, we’re going to break down the NBB teams and tell you a bit about them. First, let’s remember a bit about the tournament? It’s worth remembering that it was born in 2008 with the aim of professionalizing the basketball scene in Brazil, promoting the sport and the players around the world, showing that we can play a lot too!

NBB is the acronym for New Basketball Brazil, a men’s basketball competition that is very important in the world of sports. Remember that it only covers men’s basketball.

Bauru

Bauru Basket, Bauru Basquete or Associação Bauru Basketball Team, was born in the city of Bauru, obviously in São Paulo. The club’s history began in 1994, and the team has grown over the years, gaining more and more visibility and interest from new athletes and fans of the sport.

Brasília Basquete

Brasília Basquete, from the Federal District, was born in 2018. The team includes well-known names in the sport, such as Douglas Santos and Gabriel Vilarinho.

Caxias do Sul

Founded in 2006, Caxias do Sul Basketball is a team with many victories and is one of the most important in national basketball;

Cerrado Basquete

Also known as the Cerrado Sports and Recreation Association, Cerrado Basketball was founded in 2016 and already won its first title in 2017. The club also currently has three international players: Keyron Sheard, Rasgaun McLemore and Anthony Harris.

Corinthians

Founded in São Paulo, Esporte Clube Corinthians Paulista, Sport Club Paulista, Corinthians Basketball or just Corinthians is one of the oldest basketball teams in Brazil. It was founded in 1928 and has made a name for itself in the sport to this day, with titles and very popular players.

Flamengo

The Flamengo, or Flamengo Regatta Club, is a team that was born in Rio de Janeiro and is also known as Fla Basquete or simply Flamengo Basquete. It is one of the most traditional leagues in our country, with victories not only in the NBB, but also in other championships such as the South American League and the Americas League

Fortaleza/Basquete Cearense

The Fortaleza/Basquete Cearense team is also known as Associação de Basquete Cearense or simply Basquete Cearense. The team was born in 2012, becoming the first team from the Northeast to take part in the NBB.

Franca

Franca Basketball Club, or Franca Basquete, is a team that was born in 1959 in the city of Franca, in the state of São Paulo. The team has won the most Brazilian championships in its history.

Minas

Originating in the city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, the Minas Tênis club is also known as Minas Storm Basketball, or simply Minas. The club was founded in 1937 and made history at the beginning of the sport here in Brazil, boasting titles and renowned athletes.

Pato Basquete

The Associação Basquetebol Arte de Pato Branco, also known as just Pato Basquete, is a team that was born in the city of Pato Branco in Paraná. Its history began in 1999, as an amateur team, but in 2018 it became a very strong, high-performance team to take part in the main championships, and then joined the NBB.

Paulistano 

The Paulistano basketball team is also known as Clube Athetico Paulistano and was born in the city of São Paulo in 1922. So the club already has more than 100 years of history, some titles and great athletes.

Pinheiros

Also born in São Paulo, Esporte Clube Pinheiros or Pinheiros Basquete was born there in 1926, and soon took part in the most important basketball tournaments in Brazil. The team also managed to join the NBB, showing all its importance in the country.

Rio Claro 

Rio Claro Basquete, or just Rio Claro, is a team that was born in 1981 and has become quite relevant on the national circuit. The club has won a number of championships, such as the Brasileiro and the Pan-American Club Championship.

São José 

The São José basketball team was born in São José dos Campos, which is also in the state of São Paulo. The club’s history began in 1948, and it gradually rose to prominence in the sport. It has competed in the main tournaments and won important championships such as the Paulista Championship and the São Paulo Cup.

São Paulo

Founded in 1930, the São Paulo Basquete team, or just São Paulo, won its first title in 1943, and gained notoriety throughout Brazil. Although it doesn’t have many titles, it is part of the NBB and is very relevant.

União Corinthians

União Corinthians or União Corinthians Basquete is a team that was born in Santa Cruz do Sul, a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It all started in 1939, with its foundation, and the first championship took place the following year, in 1940. Throughout its history, the team has won 13 titles in the Campeonato Gaúcho.

Unifacisa 

The Unifacisa team from Campina Grande, in Paraíba, was born in 2012 and it didn’t take long for it to gain prominence in sport in the Northeast. The club has won two Brazilian championships, but has excelled mainly in the Paraibano Championship, in which it has won six titles.
